Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is on an archeology mission in the jungle attempting to capture a special gold idol when he runs into his foe, René Belloq (Paul Freeman), who steals the idol from him and attempts to have Indy killed. Narrowly escaping death, as-always, Indy manages to hop a plane and flee to the US. Once home, he learns that Nazis are present in Cairo in the spot Indy suspects holds the Ark of the Covenant—a chest that supposedly contains the 10 commandments, and with it, great power that will threaten everyone if the Nazis get a hold of it. Indy must head to Cairo to stop the Ark of the Covenant from getting into Nazi hands. Many obstacles get in the way including snakes and Nazis ready to fight. When his old rival Belloq, who has been hired by the Nazis, gets a hold of the Ark, Indy and his friends must battle to capture it from them and prevent the Nazis from creating absolute disaster.
