It’s been nearly a decade since Harvey Dent’s death, and his legacy, The Dent Act, has put an end to nearly all organized crime. Batman (Christian Bale) has been out of sight for years, as has his alter-ego Bruce Wayne. Batman took the fall for Harvey Dent’s death and police commissioner, James Gordon (Gary Oldman), has successfully disguised Harvey’s wrongdoings. So far, their plan has worked and crime has nearly disappeared in Gotham City.

Batman is intent on staying in the shadows. Bruce Enterprise is a shadow of what it once was, and Batman is all but forgotten, but the arrival of a mysterious cat burgular, Selina (Anne Hathaway) and a vicious terrorist, Bane (Tom Hardy), pull Batman out of hiding. He must do what he can to save Gotham City from this masked villain and remind everyone that Batman is a true hero. As strong as he is, Batman can’t do it alone and he enlists the help of old friends and unlikely new acquaintances to save Gotham City one last time.
