It’s been decades since Harriet Vanger’s disappearance, but her uncle Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube), is still intent on finding out what happened to her. She disappeared on Hedeby Island where nearly all members of the Vanger family live and Henrik is convinced Harriet was killed by someone in the family. He enlists the help of Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist), a journalist who has fallen on tough times. Mikael moves to Hedeby Island and begins investigating the family—all of which are suspects. With the help of computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace), whom Henrik also hires, Mikael and Lisbeth begin to unravel the details of a series of malicious murders related to the family and to Harriet. The Vanger family is sneaky, powerful and dangerous and Mikael and Lisbeth risk it all as they get closer and closer to solving the mystery.
