College students David Kessler (David Naughton) and Jack Goodman (Griffin Dunne) are hiking in the Yorkshire moors when they come upon a small pub and decide to go inside. The locals don’t treat them so well, but David and Jack don’t think too much of it. They do notice a shrine at the bar with a pentacle and candles and receive a strange response when they ask it about. As they leave the bar, they’re warned not to enter the moors and to stay on the path. Jack and David do not take their advice, and once it starts to rain, they wander into the moors thinking it’s a shortcut. They hear a growl from a large animal and scampering sounds. Soon, a large wolf attacks them. Jack is killed and David has been bit. When he awakes after three weeks in the hospital, he learns of Jack’s fate. He begins to experience strange dreams where he sees visions of himself like an animal as well as visions of Jack. In the dream, Jack tries to warn him of werewolves. In one, Jack says he’ll turn into a werewolf at the next full moon and the only way to stop the curse is if he kills himself. All too quickly, David realizes Jack was telling the truth all along.
