Eddie Morrie (Bradley Cooper) is writer with dreams of making it big. Struggling with debilitating writer’s block, a friend of his exposes him to NZT—a new drug that’s hot on the market and will help him focus and reach his true potential. One hit, and Eddie already feels the effects. He soon discovers he can do more than he ever thought possible and it’s all because of NZT.

Soon, Eddie is making major money deals on Wall Street, and making millions of dollars. Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro), a successful businessman, can’t help but take notice of Eddie’s success and offers Eddie a chance to work with him on a major deal. All is well except that more and more people are becoming aware of Eddie’s NZT stash and will do anything to get some for themselves.

Suddenly, Eddie’s life is at risk and the drug’s side effects don’t make fending off gangsters and thieves easy. Will he have enough drugs and enough focus to get out of this jam, or will the same thing that’s helping him destroy him?
